It does this to determine if you are a new or returning user and also keeps track of the last time you visited the site so that the number of visits are recorded more accurately. StatCounter does provide us with the I.P. address of your computer but does not give us your name, Email address or other contact information.

Yuba City is still a small town and we occasionally receive calls from friends asking for someone's telephone number, address or other information.
