Flood Insurance Rates Going Up!

Preliminary Flood Maps Released
   
   
Preliminary flood maps for Sutter County and parts of Yuba City have been released by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). They are available for viewing at the Sutter County Public Works Department. They have also been posted to the County's web site but the file sizes are quite large and the download time is long.

While some parts of Southeast Yuba City are now designated as being in the 100 year flood plain, the study was limited to areas South of Bogue Road (except for a small area East of Garden Highway that extends North to the Sutter County Airport. These maps, then, do not include the sweeping changes that will likely come as the balance of Yuba City is included in future studies.
Here are some maps that may be of particular interest;

Southeast Yuba City - Panel #0605
Southwest Yuba City - Panel #0600
East Nicolaus - Panel #0720

Issuance of these maps is a reminder that we live in an area that is subject to flooding. We hope that all of you have (or get) flood insurance. Flood insurances rates will more than triple when homes are placed in a designated 100 year flood zone. However, the current policy is that holders of flood insurance at the time a property is placed in a 100 flood zone will be "grandfathered in" at the lower rate.
